Pre-Dance

Preschool 1 and 2 are both combo classes. Pre-1 is 60 minutes. Pre-2 is 75 minutes.

 

Preschool 1 consists of a 30 minute ballet class and 30 minutes of a fun introduction to basic stretching, acro, and creative movement. Dancers will perform their ballet routine in the year-end recital.

Preschool 2 consists of a 30 minute ballet class, 30 minute tap class, and 15 minutes for an introduction to jazz with creative movement. Dancers will perform both ballet and tap routines in the recital.

 

Students will develop rhythm, coordination, listening, memory, imagination and social skills in a friendly encouraging environment!

Hip-Hop

HIP-HOP - Ages 6+

 

Hip Hop is a stylized form of dance that is paired with music that is popular and upbeat. It incorporates a variety of old and new styles, grooves (exploring the music and movement with the dancers own individual style) as well as improvisation.

 

Hip hop dancing is very dynamic and helps the dancers develop body balance, coordination, and confidence. 

Dancers will perform Hip-Hop routines to very clean and age-appropriate music in the year-end recital.

Ballet

BALLET - Ages 2.5+

 

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance.

 

Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, balance, and self-discipline. Students will learn classical and contemporary ballet techniques, learn terminology, and apply it to a fun recital routine!

Lyrical

LYRICAL - Ages 11+

*This class has a prerequisite class*

Students must be enrolled in Ballet in order to register for this class. 

 

Lyrical is a mix of ballet, jazz, and contemporary movement that challenges dancers to use choreography to interpret music and express emotion. Focus will be on technique as well as expressiveness through the use of combinations and improvisation.

Dancers will perform a Lyrical dance in the year-end recital.

Tap

TAP - Ages 3.5+

 Tap focuses on rhythms and patterns in footwork through proper technique, as well as personal style and producing clear sounds. Classes include a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Center and across the floor exercises focus on coordination and movement agility. As students progress through each level, technique will become increasingly more challenging and intricate. 

Dancers will perform Tap routines in the year-end recital.

Jazz

JAZZ - Ages 4+

 Jazz is an upbeat class full of rhythm, style, technique, and athleticism. Dancers will improve musicality, coordination, and confidence, increasing flexibility and strength while learning age appropriate stylization.

Dancers will perform Jazz routines in the year-end recital.

Musical Theater

MUSICAL THEATER - Ages 8+

Musical Theatre is the fusion of dancing and acting with performance on stage. This may include singing or lip syncing. Classes include breathing and singing technique practice, acting and improvisation activities, as well as dance technique and performance.  Exercises focus on increasing confidence, stage personality, and overall performance.

*Recommended for students interested in auditioning for the middle school or high school musicals!

Dancers will perform a Musical Theater routine in the year-end recital.

Modern

MODERN - Ages 11+

Modern dance is a nice contrast to the other dance styles offered. It utilizes more grounded movements and floor work. Just like Ballet, Modern has its own stylized techniques. Our classes blend the many techniques to give students a well rounded experience. They will learn how to use their breath and bodies in a new way and become more versatile dancers in the process!

Dancers will perform a Modern routine in the year-end recital.

Pointe

Readiness for POINTE work is determined by each student’s strength and physical development - not by their age.

*Students must be enrolled in Ballet in order to take any Pointe classes.

 

Pre-Pointe will focus on core strength, turn-out, alignment, balance, and foot, calf, and ankle strength. The instructor will advise parents when a student has the necessary strength and maturity to go get pointe shoes. Students will move on to Beginner Pointe and work en pointe at the barre slowly building their strength and confidence in pointe shoes. With permission of the teacher, students will progress to Pointe when they are strong enough to work in the center without the aid of the barre.

Acrobatics

ACRO - All Ages

 

Acrobatics, or acro as it is commonly referred to by dancers, includes balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength.

We offer Basic Acro for students who are interested in a 30 minute class for fun to work on skills such as bridges, handstands, cartwheels, headstands, and more!

Acro classes do not have recital routines. 

Technique/Leaps/Turns

TECH/LEAPS/TURNS - Ages 8+

 

This class helps build dance vocabulary, improve existing skills and advanced technique as a supplement to ballet, jazz, and lyrical classes. Dancers will improve balance, flexibility, body alignment, strength, stamina and agility with a strong emphasis on proper execution. No choreography is taught in this class, though short combos might be used to link skills together. 

*Recommended for any dancer interested in trying out for their high school dance team!

Technique/Leaps/Turns classes do not have recital routines.

Conditioning/Flexibility

CONDITIONING/FLEX - Ages 8+

 

Fun exercises are learned to upbeat and inspiring music, designed to really energize the student to reach their personal best. The class may incorporate the use of props (balance balls, stretch bands, etc.) to aid improvement as well as keep the class fun and interesting each week! They will learn many effective stretching techniques that will produce results if used on a regular basis. The class is guaranteed to  improve each student's personal level of cardiovascular endurance, strength,  and flexibility which in turn will help them improve in all other styles of dance!

Technique/Leaps/Turns classes do not have recital routines.
